DEMONS Rising

Someone recently shared through whatsapp a VDO showing torture on about an year old human babies. This VDO started when an offender who was using his one hand to hold recording device( due to which his face could not be seen though through features of children and Arm sleeve of the offender gave impression of Tamil Indian or Bengali origin of VDO)) started slapping the children through the other hand to make them cry and then he threw them on floor and one child started bleeding. The VDO ended when the camera focused on a child’s eyes and the offender started strangling him.

This was not the first VDO of such nature which different people had shared but other VDOs were about slapping or kicking children of various ages or throwing them roughly on bed. Different people who shared such content requested to forward for creating awareness but my first concern is that the more we would share the more acceptable such content would become and secondly I suspect that number of interested viewers for such sort of VDOs is rising and this is what concerns me the most.

“V” the humans seek knowledge to grow above animals but with the passage of time “V” are falling below them so it cant be just knowledge which differentiates us from beasts. To me too much fulfillment (may it be of wealth, Knowledge, resources, Access to different types of entertainment or of any other sort) pushes towards such direction when “V” start crossing nature’s boundaries. I think solution is following religion according to its spirit. Firstly it brings self-control and restraint and secondly our own pleasure and satisfaction for animal needs becomes secondary. Some people say that religion is the largest contributor to loss of human lives since start of mankind but I think it is not religion rather its followers who failed to grasp the spirit of God’s orders and who did not use their gift of emotional intelligence.

I think “V as parents while raising kids should be putting a greater emphasis on teaching values and should reduce our obsession with academic grades. Apparently buyers of such shows (at Dark web where people are tortured at viewer's order)are FINANCIALLY stable and successful people but MORALLY dead."V" should also try to slowdown such demonih entertainment to come to surface/common content sharing platforms.

Note:Title picture used is not an image of mentioned VDO.

Character

Like any other Pakistani, I feel frustrated with the way this country is being managed. Because of having access to media, I can compare my country with other countries and make a contrast in terms of Political, Social and Economic systems. One thing discussed less is our own national character i.e. How do the common people behave? I feel that the mess in this country is not just because of incompetent and dishonest politicians but because of Incompetent and dishonest people(Politicians are not the cause rather are the effect of the way "V" behave). I see shortage of

Honesty
Tolerance
Discipline
Faith
Entrepreneurship
Creativity and innovation

As these elements build and define national character, we need to take following measures.

Education: Shift focus from Post graduate programs to Skill development programs .Improve pay and incentives for Technicians as compared to Engineers/Doctors as they are needed in larger numbers. This would improve employment and workers would not feel frustrated being over qualified .Better earning reduces justification for dishonesty and friction between socioeconomic groups
For higher education, financial incentives should be given to people studying BIO TECH,MATH,PHYSICS,ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE,GENETIC ENGINEERING and some sort of disincentive should be used for people studying finance so that we produce more researchers and scientists rather than experts of Casino economies who currently have better job opportunities but who contribute a little to well being of society.

LAW Enforcement: Divide police into three separate divisions
Monitoring and Reporting
Investigation
Operations

These separate departments break concentration of power at operational level police. These divisions can coordinate through coordinators and IT setup .Police is first line of defense for civilians. Feeling secure can reduce level of frustration which is reflected on roads and at public places.

Entrepreneurship: Bulk of management training institutions are offering MBA degree after simple graduation. It should be made compulsory to have a technical degree like in Furniture making or Food processing before registering for MBA programs. Such people are more likely to use Management degrees for Business in their respective field. Short courses of Business management can be introduced in Urdu and Punjabi to encourage women/undergrads/People with basic education for self-employment.More effective Micro Finance and financial assistance needs to be offered to small scale/young enterprises.

Religion: As a nation we spend a lot of time showing/expressing concerns regarding how wrong others are rather focusing on are we right? Any degree for religious qualification should not be without comparative study with at least one sect and religion and along with compulsory courses in IT and English. This way religious leaders would stay in touch with what is happening around and would also have a realistic view of modern world. There should be reasonable pay for them so that they don’t try to over emphasize on few incidents/events and elements to play with public sentiment rather give a broader and realistic picture of religion.

Sports:"V" need to expand focus from few sports and treat Sports as an Industry. This would help us become more competitive. An average citizen while seeing its national team winning against teams of developed world would start feeling confident during global interaction.

At the end anyone can ask that who would bring these changes?

A simpler answer can be 'The Government' so participate in electoral process.
A tougher choice can be to take initiative at individual level so that eventually many honest and tough individuals encourage others to be like them. I think great nations rise by following footsteps of great and guiding individuals . “V” the Pakistanis need to create such individuals at home!

Peeling the pimples (and Stitching the gaps!)

It took me about 30 seconds to sync into the news of Junaid Jamshed’s death when my mother woke and told me. After about two hours I had seen half an hour coverage of the plane crash, I felt the urge to share and comment on the News and that was when I discovered split emotions in General public about Junaid’s Death.

Majority of the people were discussing his transition from being a Pop Icon to a prominent Preacher but some people were discussing circumstances of his death as a sign of God’s reaction towards his comments about B.B Ayesha(In a preaching session he had discussed holy prophet’s wife B.B Ayesha ‘s conduct as of a typical possessive wife). Since last couple of months I have come to know about discussions against Maulana Tariq Jameel , Professor Ahmed Javed,Javed Ahmed Ghamidi ,Professor Rafiq Akhter. Reason for this post is to develop understanding of the impact when religious sentiments based dislike becomes hatred and this hatred is promoted and shared with other people.

Why "V" should not discuss?

1: Most of us do not spend time in studying religion so our knowledge is limited to what we have heard from someone(that someone’s true knowledge, bias and intentions are rarely known) so logically “V” cant be sure if our sentiments are due to facts or fiction.

2: Our discussions about religion are generally related to those topics which do not restrict us to perform our routine duties as Muslims like should there be Milads/Religious concerts ? so such discussions are least likely to improve our religious discipline.

3:Such discussions are based upon proving how wrong the others are rather than why we are right so very soon in discussion ,Arguments are replaced by scolding between people who actually are very forgiving for themselves when it comes to avoiding strict religious discipline and they just pick a discussion for self assurance of being right without regularly and honestly searching for truth.

4:When “V” follow religious leaders on the basis of sect rather than logic and conduct than “V” tend to become over forgiving for our own leaders (Stitching the gaps)and unduly critical towards other sects(peeling the pimples)without realizing that in spite of difference of opinion about post Prophet incidents and events, our binding element is Allah’s Sovereignty which should make us a lot more united than how much “V” actually are.

5:When “V” generously make it known that “V”can become loud and violent at disagreements than “v” actually reduce our ability to inspire non-muslims rather “v” push them away from betterment.

6: Media/Political parties/Religious leaders exploit disagreements and this is what they all feed on. ”V” get distracted and lose track while ignoring the basic and simpler things which can get us closer to God/Allah like being regular with prayers,Doing our jobs honestly for Halal/Lawful earning, Restricting ourselves to Permissible sexual relations, Helping poor etc.

Common topics of our religious debates and why they are not important for discussion:

• Who should have been the next leader after holy prophet’s death?(rather than practically doing anything for bringing honest leadership now)
• Was Karballah incident religious or political?(in any case holy prophet’s family chose to sacrifice lives but “V” are not even willing to sacrifice foreign entertainment, brands and culture)
• Is acknowledgement of Holy prophet’s family’s status part of religion?(How would it effect our lives in year 2017 and later years?)
• Do “V” need to use a reference while praying to God?(in both cases eventually its God "V" ask from so it actually does not question our faith)
• Can a prophet make normal humans like mistakes like forgetting, having feelings etc ?("V" are answerable and accountable for our own conduct because “V” cant deny having a conscious in either case)
• Is image of a shoe which existed 1400 years ago sacred?(There are many things with more obvious significance like reading translation of Holy Quran and its explanation in mother language so why to spend time on shoe related discussion?)

Being Mulims "v" should be concerned about current challenges and above mentioned discussions dilute our focus from current and real issues:

• “V” still worship idle Gods but their shapes and forms have changed from being of Stones and Clay to being wealthy and Powerful (Just like old times “V” find other sources than God/Allah for getting things done easily.
• Birth of a girl is not welcomed(similar excuse of financial burden)
• Interest based economy exists
• Might is right
Heros from different fields are created, discussed, praised and idealized to make us believe that Personal Glory is worth all of our mind, heart and body efforts.

Due to these real and collective issues it becomes painful when "V"make differences among Muslim sects more known and spread hate about other sects.I feel differences based on practices( for common and shared Islamic beliefs )Can be and should be ignored.

God..Faith....Survivors!

With the passage of time I have realized that Islam for us the Muslims has two functional areas or sections :

A: Worshiping
B: Conduct

Generally 'V' the Muslims are more concerned about those activities which connect a person directly with God like offering prayers or reciting the holy Quran but 'V' tend to show lesser concern about those acts which connect a Muslim with other Muslims,Non Muslims and other living creatures like animals etc.

At this age when I am almost 38,I have started feeling that "IF" not more than at least equal(to have a connect with God) in importance is our conduct with other people and living beings. In fact 'V'can never really feel God's presence without feeling love for its creations.
However once God's presence is felt then sooner or later Faith upon him is tested.

When you start believing that:

Giving money to poor people or financially helping them actually increases your own wealth than suddenly you start experiencing financial setbacks or losses.

God has picked the right person for you as a life partner ,you start feeling tempted for other options.

Daughters blessed to you are as lovely as a son could have been and you get another daughter.

You have developed enough patience for your very old parents but they become even more childlike.

Offering prayers is a compulsion but you start getting busier.

During these and similar tests of Faith 'V'need to remember these words by Stephan king "If the Devil is real than God must be real too (If living is hell than Heaven after living must be real too!

God could guide us through a Book (Quran)only but he also used a person(Sunnah) to show that how living in tougher circumstances and protecting Faith can become a source for progression towards purity and God.

Selfie Kids and Pakistan's future?

As a teacher and member of urban society I interact with parents. I find parents who are over stretching to buy luxury and private education for their kids. I meet fathers (who discuss possible shape of job market after ten years for kids who are currently in eighth grade) and mothers (who want their daughters to be prominent at both Mehndi and Millad and if possible than also on result day!).For their kids good jobs or foreign immigration and their timely marriages into families which can afford comfort is all these parents seem to care for. Without exception none of these parents seems to be encouraging kids for having a purpose in life and to pursuit creativity, imagination and inner happiness.

I teach students (At grammar Schools)who are teenagers. Boys and Girls who have just started feeling young, believing that they are very Good looking, Strong and Intelligent and they look beautiful with typical selfie expression i.e. sidewards face , slightly dropped jaw and eyes displaying aggression and self-belief for personal looks. These kids are full of confidence. They are friendly but do not show usual expressions and signs of showing respect to elders. If you cant fetch references to R&B music, new movies, popular restaurants, cars, mobiles ,soccer , wealth or anything associated with financial prosperity in discussions than it becomes difficult to become friendly with them. Unlike their elders (thanks to unfiltered and unchecked access to adult content)they are very open to discussions and activities which are traditionally not done publicly. These Selfie kids are very open to interact with opposite gender and this interaction is not bound to timings or frequency due to Social media, Mobile phones and prepaid emotions! Due to being too much occupied with electronic gadgets and/or socialization they find little time for Books and Sports thus do not fulfill traditional criteria’s of balanced personality. They love so much being in the present that past (like national history related events before and after 1947,1965,1971 etc)and future(possible water crises and outcome of separatists movement in Baluchistan etc)do not seem to be their concern.

The reason why I am discussing these parents and kids is that they reflect that part of Urban society which initiates trends and develops cultures to be followed by rest of the population. It is very significant that these people (who are influenced by western society but do not suffer from inferiority complex due to better education and exposure)understand that no society has ever progressed without remembering its own history and without following any set of values(Moral ,Nationalist or religious).Being influential on rest of population demands responsibility. ”V” will have to understand that now Europe and America are likely to reduce number of immigrants from Pakistan due to terrorism and due to cheaper skilled workforce availability from Bangladesh , India and from some of the other Asian countries. If “V” want our kids to have a safer and better society to live in than “V” will have to spend more time with them sharing what mistakes their elders made when national history was in the making and what mistakes can be avoided now when history is still in the making!I feel "V" will have to encourage our kids to develop interest in Research(beyond Google!),Sports ,Art and Literature."V" will have to show them pleasures beyond food,Clothing and electronic gadgets.

Note:I have absolutely no idea of who this guy is in tittle pic .I just found this image appropriate for this post while searching from Internet so it can be removed if it is private.

“V” Muslims beyond 2014

I have never really researched or studied to become familiar with Islamic history and fundamentals so I very much represent major part of this country’s population which follows religion according to its own convenience and with very limited knowledge about core Islamic concepts. However like most of my countrymen I absorb religion related info from Elders, Media and Mosque.

I feel that in an Islamic state implementation of Islamic practices and promoting Islam to non-Muslims both within the state and to other states is given primary importance rather than directly focusing on public welfare and giving freedom in terms of sexual practices, female participation in Economic/Educational/Media/Sports activities the way it is done in non-Islamic states.

I really do not think that current co-education system, cable channels, cinema, concerts, working women, Interest based banking fits in an Islamic state so practically if today our society ACTUALLY becomes Islamic than there would be no females on T.V, No films. Females would have little chance of joining any activity in which they have to leave their houses everyday and remain unaccompanied from their family males like for getting education or for work/play.
Holy Prophet used all types of strategies for spreading Islam like he preached as well as fought wars, Made contracts when he was dominant (in worldly terms) or when he had to make compromises for surviving and for larger interest of religion .Holy prophet chose appropriate course of action while keeping the broader picture in mind so he displayed both tolerance and courage .
Now a days most of the people who are recognized in the society by being associated with religion either through preaching or through Jihad generally fail to reflect their role model in behavior (they do not show a kind character while remaining Firm for the cause and they also tend to follow Islamic practices without truly understanding true spirit of many Islamic orders thus appearing backward in modern times paradoxically while promoting a religion which is meant to survive till the end of time and which concluded God’s orders for mankind).

As an individual I am not clear about which option is better to bring Peace and welfare in Pakistan which seems to be disturbed due to conflict between two different types of Muslims i.e. Moderates (who appear to have more casual approach towards religion and who feel that it is ok to have in the society performing Arts, Women participation in social and economic activities and Interest based banking) and Fundamentalists(who want to follow and make others follow Islamic orders as the words of the order suggest without much digging about philosophy behind the order).

Available options for our society are

1: keep the country constitutionally Islamic while keeping the current media, banking and social policies? (This way “V” will stay away from Xtreme unislamic practices like use of pork, alcohol and having boundryless sexual freedom but major part of the society would be able to follow a lighter version of Islam thus modernism would be added to religion HOWEVER this approach is based upon hypocracy as Limits imposed by religion are crossed this way rather than just being stretched).

2:Change the constitution and make Pakistan a Secular state (With religion off the priority list everyone would focus on required economic /social contribution. People with rich foreign exposure indicate that they are more comfortable to practice Islam while living abroad where they find equality ,rule of law and economic prosperity HOWEVER in western societies absolute freedom has shown gradual change/deterioration in moral values like growing same sex bonding ,diminishing sanctity of close relations, use of drugs etc).

3: Decide to make Pakistan an Islamic state where as a society no compromise will be made on fundamental elements/practices of Islam ( This way pain of living would become easier to bear as “V” would know that eventually “V” would be rewarded by God. There can be collective welfare through Islamic practices like lower crime rate due to stricter Islamic punishments etc HOWEVER transition towards a pure Islamic state can be a real test of beliefs and patience. Urban women might be resistant against reduced freedom of movement, work and sports. A society which is so fond of Hollywood and Bollywood might find it tough to quit movies of their favorite stars like Shah Rukh Khan or Jenifer Lawrence. It is debatable if suggested (highly emphasized by religious groups) practices for Muslim males like keeping beard, exposing ankles etc are actually part of the core Islamic practices. Except for acknowledging existence of fundamental beliefs/practices related to God, Holy Prophet, five prayers, Pilgrimage, Zakat and Fasting there is a huge difference of opinion on ways of practicing Islam and believers from different Islamic groups can become violent while advocating and pushing their style of practicing Islam. People belonging to different sects are very less tolerant and open to accommodate other sects. Due to these reasons only very basic elements of Islam can be collectively implemented like Interest free banking, Dress code for women etc.

I personally feel that option one would prevail but it would push both type of extremism i.e. religious and Anti religious. As a society “V” would suffer because neither Islam is likely to penetrate through characterless people (remember currently Amir Liaqat Hussain and Maulana Fazal urRehman/Abdul-Aziz type of people are supposed to be religious opinion makers) nor economy would progress with so much Law and Order related mess and brain drain.

Please share your opinion by adding comments that which option would you go for.

“V” beyond 12/16

Nations rise when they struggle together either due to collective interest or after a collective loss. I felt an air of indifference on many National tragedies and found many people emotionally very cold after incidents like attack on GHQ and on KAMRA Air Base and even after reported deaths of so many children and women in Thar Desert Sind (with death toll similar to Peshawar incident) .This all changed after Peshawar incident (Terrorist attack on Army Public School on December 16, 2014).I saw genuine grief in the society. I saw people crying who otherwise appear to be very casual in real life. I am very cautious in believing when media highlights something but it looks like sentiments are actually similar across the country.
So what is next?

If we continue to wait for something radical to happen on its own than I am afraid that things would go from bad to worse. As a nation we need to answer few fundamental questions collectively if “V” want to move on.

1: To what extent do we want religion to be part of civil law? (Current Law and Order situation seems to root from the fact that different sects want to impose their own brand of religion like

a: Jihadists/Taliban who practically promote military war against non-Muslims and who do not allow women to participate in education, economic, political and social activities. These people apparently do not believe in National boundaries and want to form Islamic State /Khilafat/Caliphate by joining Afghanistan, Parts of Pakistan (KPK and Federally administered areas) and some part of China. Current crises is associated with these people.

b:Local Ahle Hadees are the people who are supposed to be well-wishers of Jihadists but most of them physically do not join it. Many of such people are accused to be financially/Logistically supporting Jihadists. Such people are least tolerant towards modern urban culture which is highly influenced by West.
Other sects like Barelvi or Shiates are not known to be imposing their beliefs on the whole society though they are also accused to have militant wings which are used against opponent militant wings. People who advocate support and participation in Jihad indicate that Pakistan constitutionally is an Islamic state but practically unislamic acts like assisting non-Muslim Army (USA), Interest based banking and display of western values on media and at public places etc are growing so its naïve to assume that such a state would ever call for Jihad and its very natural that independent Jihadist groups are spreading.

2: Are “V” ready to allocate budget to our Police the way “V” do for Army?(One accusation on Army is that it never allows another force to be built which is trained on military standards but is under civilian control).Huge resources would be required to recruit and Train
i) Detectives ii) Field operatives
who can run local intelligence network and can successfully intercept terrorist attacks locally.

3: What kind of media censor policy are we ready to tolerate ( Skin exposure is something which can never ever be justified on Islamic grounds and which can easily stimulate anti state/anti-social sentiment of the religious militants so stricter and clearer censor policy is required Unless society collectively decides and announces that it does not want entertainment media to have too much religious influence.

4: What kind of Public accountability is required for holy Cows?(What kind/degree of criticism on National Institutions like Intelligence Agencies and Judiciary etc would go against national interest and to what level it would ensure that there is no misuse of power for personal gains? Should institutional Heads be answerable to Parliamentary committees the way it happens for Congress in USA? )

5: What kind of legislation is needed to facilitate speedy and secure trials of Terrorists and what will ensure that such provisioning in Law is used against enemies of the State rather than against personal enemies?

6: How can we arrange and use resources to develop physical infrastructure in KPK,FATA and also in Baluchistan so that employment rate in such areas improves through higher economic activity and youth does not find pay cheques coming from employers of private Militias.

7:Are “V” ready to spend on development of Sports/Performing Arts industries which actually provide avenues to youth for expressing themselves and which also generate lot of activity in modern economies.

I think once we answer these fundamental questions than it would be easy to keep everyone along and focused on National Interest(and most members of society would define National Interest in the same way!).

Long (March) way to go

14 August is coming but like me many others apparently are giving little thought to organizing celebrations for freedom (which we need to cherish more after Narendra Modi’s arrival as Indian P.M which takes back India away from secularism and more towards corporate Hindu India).Had we still been in United India than our individual paths to progress would have come through displaying detachment with Islamic faith the way Indian Muslim movie stars do.

I often ask my elders that why are Indians a Nation(with about 56 languages spoken though 8 are officially recognized in 29 states) whereas “V” are not. I still have not got a satisfactory reply. Comparison with India has bubbled into my mind because just over an year of last election again there are talks about removing Govt which has been elected for five years. Lets see the relation between political stability and National growth and why should “V” be concerned about consequences of the Long March announced by Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf(PTI) plus why there is a reference to India.

Democracy is desirable because it gives us choice. It allows people to elect who they find capable of looking after their economic and social interests. On the other hand in Autocracy may it be through a King or a Military leader , there is no choice. Whole nation has to follow his instructions no matter how undesirable they are. People in Pakistan often confuse people with system. Supporters of Musharaf and Ayub do not realize that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Military leaders or kings initially take many measures to please people so that they are accepted but eventually lose patience against criticism, tend to break free from self imposed moral values. Worst part is that people close to them are just as above the system as the leader himself so abuse of power by their relatives and friends becomes inevitable and nothing can be done about darlings of the autocrat leader.

There are three Reasons why many people are still not clear about importance of democracy .Firstly Army has ruled this country for about 33 years directly and has intervened in the political system for many other years by not allowing free policy making by political institutions .Secondly it has not been transferred to grass root level and little has been done for local body elections and for financial autonomy of local body institutions. Thirdly there are indications that one organization or collaboration of three organizations tempers election results (under the assumption that they are doing it for the greater interest of the country) so true representatives of people struggle to make it to the assemblies and those people are elected who are good at making democracy unpopular.

In my opinion one effective way of making the people united as a Nation is to let the people work for a common cause like achieving economic prosperity. For which they can choose /elect people for policy making and regulation and that is where democracy comes in. It allows to show who the people trust collectively to look after them economically and socially. Thus democracy is a way of bringing people together (a nation) .
PTI’s long march is a right thing coming at a wrong time (Timing is wrong for the country but right for the party). My feeling is that PTI has been deprived of about 6-8 national assembly seats (not sure about how many have the been blessed with!)by the people /institution which organized the results .I certainly do not find it a coincidence that four provinces are ruled by four different parties which have strong presence in their respective provinces thus giving voice to different casts plus one party with better macro-economic management skills has been given a clear majority to cleanup the economic mess. It all seems to be too good to be true. Apparently someone was very clear that result of the election should bring “everyone” on board.

My feeling is that PTI and Tahir ul qadri combined would be able to bring about 125,000 people to Islamabad who would stay and try to force Army to Intervene. In case of any major mishap both PML(N)and PTI would lose along with the country as there would be NO FREE AND FAIR ELLECTION FOLLOWING. Thus both democracy and National growth would be restricted (Indians elected a person they hate because of his management abilities so despite Modi’s strong hindu orientation he represents a united India and he would work for all casts to ensure sustained rule of his party but there is no such pressure on an individual/Autocrat who practically is not answerable to anybody).

I believe in two party system. There should be two parties with presence in all the provinces. After Benazir Bhutto PPP is not likely to remain a national party (not at least for the next ten years) rather it is likely to survive in Sind only.PTI can fill this gap .Problem is that as a party even if they achieve required electoral reforms (assuming democracy is not derailed to avoid chaos in the capital)and wait for the next election there is no guarantee that PTI would get majority in national assembly (one can guess it through its Performance in KPK)so the people willing to join the march must remember that its still a long way to go for PTI even if it makes it to Islamabad on 14th August.

Spilled and Forgotten

For the whole Model Town/Tahir Ul qadri episode, my assessment is that for Punjab Govt, Qadri is coming to disrupt democracy at the request of establishment so that pressure can be built for release of Musharaf.Anyone living in Lahore and who moves around the area (Model Town Ext)can tell that students at Minhaj ul Quran have never been known for violence so Punjab Govt must have thought that a simple hush through Police would make the Academicians/Students back out from Qadri support and with a thinner crowd welcoming ,Qadri will occupy less space in media.

Violent reaction from Qadri/Pakistan Awami Tehreek took police by surprise and lower rank officers opened fire without any instructions and as a result actually innocent people lost their lives just because they could not differentiate between religion and personalities. Up to this level scapegoats could be used and police officers could be sacked to prove innocence of Govt but even uglier was the follow up response by provincial ministers who appeared before the media after tragic incident when Govt tried to justify the happenings. Now the question is should "V" the people wait for five years till next election or should our response be immediate?

Traditionally when we consider events in the greater interest of country than it becomes easier to justify lot of blood spill ,loss of lives. Values can be redefined and moral values become secondary .Only the end result matters. I often come across people who say that Revolution is the only way to improve this country. All the politicians should be hanged and a Govt of true and honest people should be established(supposedly of people like Qadri). What they do not tell me is that how those honest and religious people would be identified/Verified and made acceptable to major part of the population without any electoral process(because if there is an electoral process involved than we already have it).

No developed country has progressed without systems/institutions in place. For me Musharaf's single most biggest sin is that he held democracy from progressing for nine years. When Army brings people like Tahir Ul Qadri so that things can be kept under control(its own control) than paradoxically its done by an institution where Unity of Command and discipline are above the religion. People/Generals come and go but Army as an institution remains supreme but this same Army does not allow other institutions(like National assembly) to flourish and gain strength.

Just like modern wars are fought more at economic fronts similarly nature of revolution has also changed .Now revolution means establishing effective institutions where nobody is indispensable. Now revolution means GDP growth(better standard of living) and gaining access to modern technology and improving quality of life by providing easier access to opportunities for personal development and growth. I am a practicing Muslim but I am not convinced that known Pakistani religious political parties actually have the administrative ability to handle economy and society where urban population follows religion according to its own comfort .

People who lose their lives the way PAT(Pakistan Awami Tehreek) workers did set an example for others but before following their footsteps we need to be clear if sacrifice is for a person or for a cause so that the blood spilled is not forgotten with the people it was spilled for.

Really ! But he was just 36 !

I attended a funeral for one of my relatives today. Many people die every day. Some while being young (at an age when they are supposed to survive and cherish life) and some die after going through the normal cycle of childhood to youth and then old age (their death is easier to swallow).Today just before the funeral I thought that it can occur to me as well. Being 36 with good health would make my Death News shocking. Many people would say Oh! No! Really! Inam has died? But he was so young, probably in his 30s (someone from my family and friends would say, He was just 36!).

It was interesting imagining me being dead so I started visualizing more about how everyone around me would react.

The room where body would be kept: It will be Crowded, crammed with people. Every now and then someone would be saying typical sentences which I would like to be true but I know people deliver these sentences at many funeral.

“Bus G bara he naik bacha tha,Itna noor toe mein nay aaj tak kisi mourday kay chahray per nahin daikha,Baji hamara Inam toe pehlay say bakhsha hua hai(He was a very piest boy, I have never seen such glow at any dead person’s face,God has already forgiven him).

"Zara iss ki B.V Ka haal daikhu ,bechari ka row row kay bura haal hai,Behnain bhi bari mushkil say apnay aap ko sambhal rahin hain".(Look at his wife,She is crying her heart out,Sisters are also struggling to bear the pain).

Bhai sahib ! Ab ghar ka kharcha kaun uthai ga?(who would run the kitchen now?)

After the funeral ,relatives would be telling my family “Itna bara janaza to aaj tak nahin daikha!(we have never seen such a large funeral).

First three days after death would be painful for all the people known to me but eventually it will be a matter of deleting an extra phone number from phone books and by the time first month would pass ,Things would be very different for “other people” .At the chaaleeswan (ceremony of 40th day from death) women would be noticing each other’s clothing. Men might be discussing standard of the food served. World would be very much a settled place (however it would never be the same for my family! They will have to learn to bear the pain .Every family member like wife, children, sisters would eventually get on with life however I cant imagine that how my mother would survive the loss).

So much for “Others” and Family but what about me!!!???What would I be doing after I die?

Would it turn out to be true that after we die Angels come and question, our conduct in the world ? How and what will I answer? Would there be light or darkness? Or would it be nothing? Would my past existence turn out to be an accident or a lost opportunity (to survive and succeed according to what was taught/indicated to me) because I failed to read the signs?

If death does not really mean an end rather a progression from one world to another, Just change of physical state than I really do not feel prepared for such a change ,do others? Me and most of the people design their routines just for survival. Eating, Networking, Sleeping, Preserving and similar activities are all focused activities for survival but are we focusing in the right direction?

I am not a very religious person but I feel religion does guide about it. Even if we do not believe in it we still need to think that what if religion is actually alarming correctly ?We should at least give it a thought because being humans there has to be some purpose in our life other than survival. It cant be a coincidence that so many living and non-living things have been created/have come into existence just to serve mankind.

Should we be setting goals for a time when Time would not matter and for a world which is difficult to imagine. We do not plan anything but how our families would survive financially or how we can maintain our health in old age but again all of this is related to our present state, What about after it? If there is something after it?

Please share your views regarding death like what is it in your opinion?

Interesting arguments related to Musharraf Trial

1:Its against Army, Causing its humiliation (By this logic no minister, Prime minister can ever be arrested for misuse of authority and corruption as they all are Heads of their respective institutions).

2: Government has bigger issues to solve than following this case (Well this allows many people to kill and steal because Govt should only be focused on inflation and unemployment).

3: Case is based on Personal vendetta (Practically every case in Courts of the country can have this accusation because it can never be proved without fair legal proceedings).

4: Violation of Law was done as Army chief so case should be followed in Military courts (Does it mean that Law of Army is supreme than National Law, What if an Army officer kills a civilian? Will the victim's family go to a Military court for obtaining justice in a closed environment, What will ensure that Institution will not try to protect its member against an outsider?)

Musharaf is an individual and should be treated that way. No developed country in the world has progressed without developing Institutions and without sovereignty of Law. No matter how pathetic they are but Assemblies must also be allowed to grow and mature the way Army as an institution did . Fairness in induction and promotion process ensures institutional growth. Musharaf is guilty in my opinion because he hindered growth of Parliament as an institution(the way Zia-ul-haq, Ayub Khan and Yahya Khan did). With Musharaf’s trial and Punishment “V” will be in a better position to demand justice in civilian institutions(A message would travel that now it can be anybody’s turn otherwise there would be further endorsement of ‘Might is right’.
My personal feeling is that At least there should be Life sentence for which the President might grant pardon at official request of Army chief. I also do not consider it to be a coincidence that both Zia-ul-Haq and Musharaf got into power when Americans needed military based assistance in Afghanistan.

Men at their best???

Some people say that If elected members do not deliver during five years than its failure of democracy! what about failure of Army which is operating in Baluchistan and KPK since more than 10 years yet things have gone from bad to worse!

We generously feed the holy cow out of our national budget without much real civilian audit so its our right to ask that how there have been so many successful intrusions into Armed forces facilities ,Could intrusions into PNS Mehran base, Kamra Aeronautical complex,GHQ Headquarters be possible without inside support? If No than it’s a sign of dangerously poor planning and organization but if yes than someone from the ranks needs to explain that why is this inside support from forces to Taliban is ever increasing.

Army is still defending itself through hired employees like Shehzad Chaudhry and few Anchors and also through hidden influence/pressure in/on media (incidents related to Omer Cheema and Saleem Shehzad have not been forgotten). It is in a habit of doing so. It stopped many reports in the name of larger interest of the country /Armed forces like by Hamudur Rehman commission ,on Zia Ul Haq/Mashaf Mir plane crash ,Ojri Camp etc.Even now Commission reports about US operation in abbottabad for Osama,Benazir Bhutto Assassination etc are believed to be heavily influenced by Armed forces interests.

May be it all was started to save prestige of Army but practically some people have started using it to cover corruption and dishonesty like Asad Durrani and Aslam Beig
confessed bribing Politicians for a desirable political scenario but due to obvious intervention by Army nothing happened similarly Karachi bridge collapse (Shershah bridge)culprits got promotions in NHA.There is another scandal in NLC and off course Musharaf’s second Marshal law .All of this indicates that internal checks in Armed forces especially in Army are not enough. The way Army and its posts are under attack there is an obvious split within Army (Between Islamists and Moderates or lower ranks verses higher ranks).I think this is high time that Army stops defending its those members who act for financial, political and personal interests. Army should give at least some indication that culprits have been brought to justice to win back sympathy and loyalty of urban educated class which can be extremely influential in bringing mass support for Army.

I have decided to take a chance

It took me about two months to decide but I will vote for PTI. Though i wrote a blog in its support a lot earlier but after completion of Metro bus Service and Political moves like Laptop distribution i felt confused. Now i am clear that in a period of five years,A lot more should have been delivered. There should have been lot more democratic conduct within the Party,More systems/institutions(especially Police,LDA,Provincial tax collection) should have been developed rather than a single person micromanaging the whole province. Frankly i am not sure if PTI would actually b able to deliver what it has committed but this party has a leader who is in a habit of accepting challenges and achieving them(Building a National level party from the scratch, Winning World cup,Building Shaukat Khanum Hospital were all considered impossible tasks to achieve). I prefer being uncertain about a better future rather a sure shot status quo. Note:Till today my neutral analysis about Election outcome is 120 seats for PMLN and 45 National Assembly seats for PTI yet i have decided to vote for PTI.

"V" as Characters ( Lost Guides ! )

This character(of lost Guides) is very commonly found in our society. These are the people who apparently “know everything” and have desire to “guide everyone” “except themselves”. They are under achievers by social standards and apparently their desire to speak on every matter and offer views on every affair roots from the fact that they at their subconscious level feel guilty on their laziness/lack of willpower yet want to show command over others and on their own life. I have started from this character because I observed it closely in the mirror and found it very common in society. At times I feel surrounded by non-doers who just live and breathe for surviving next 24 hours for the next 30 days. They live with Dreams but without Goals and targets. They live without doing what they really want to do. They either never discover their true passion or actually make compromises for not pursuing it and this keeps them from utilizing their true potential. Being under achievers they talk quickly and rapidly in every gathering and at every occasion to escape from their sense of guilt while meeting those who have recognition. Lost Guides are likely to display signs of anxiety like nervous leg shake, biting nails, frequently combing hair through fingers etc. Some lost guides find escape by digging and burying themselves under loads of knowledge which is practically of no use for them. Such characters are common because very few of us actually timely discover what we are born with and what we want to do for the rest of our life.Part of the problem is lack of social acceptance for many interests like film making or sports etc due to which these people don't take a chance on what is socially unacceptable.Generally elders for children never try to identify or develop skills suitable for a temperament like guiding those who are not good with figure fudging towards a suitable career. State of our nation is a proof of how common this character is!Everyone thinks that he/she knows that what is the right path , Everyone suggests it to others but very few follow it themselves!

ME AGAINST ME !!!

Me: Inam do you think that things would ever get better here?

Me: (After some deep thought) Yes!

Me :How?and please remember that my Canadian immigration has been accepted so I want a neutral opinion rather than an opnion coming out of Patriotism.

Me: Well I think there are very valid reasons to be optimistic about ''our'' future.

Me: Like what???

Me? On behalf of God whoever (or whatever)decides fate of this country, apparently has decided to introduce few basic reforms. First two reforms were 1:Introduction of Free media and 2:Establishment of NADRA Data base.Third one is coming the form of Electoral reforms under which about 30.75 million bogus/fake votes have been cancelled.

Me:So how long would it take for all of this to have an effect?

Me:About five years!

Me:and during these five years????

Me: ‘’V’’ all will be tested!!!

Me: Why should't i leave now with my family for Canada and come back when(If ever)this country becomes a better place for living!

Me : ???!!!???

‘’V’’ ALL WILL BE TESTED BECAUSE NOW SYSTEMS CANT DELIVER.ECONOMIC INSTABILITY WOULD BECOME JUSTIFICATION FOR ALL SORT OF CRIMES(AND FOR ALL SORT OF PUNISHMENTS).PEOPLE WOULD FEEL CONFUSED ABOUT RELIGION AND NATIONALISM WILL BE QUESTIONED.APPARENTLY THESE LONG FIVE YEARS HAVE JUST STARTED!

R “V” suffering (or enjoying) Split personality disorder!!!???

In the last few years I watched couple of movies which were about people suffering from Split personality disorder. List of such movies include A BEAUTIFUL MIND, SHUTTER ISLAND ,BLACK SWAN . Characters suffering from this disease become a different person in a given situation (or in response to a stimulus) and once they come out of the situation than they become usual themselves(the way most of the people know them).Interesting part of this disease is that such people don’t remember anything about what they did while being the “Person in the situation” so practically if they commit a crime or hurt themselves then they would feel innocent after being caught for the crime or would feel hurt without realizing that they have actually hurt themselves.

Couple of days ago I made a similar realization about myself .I was feeling hurt being a PAKISTANI due to the crimes which are committed against my country and nation and then suddenly I realized that I am no different from Asif Ali Zardari or from anyone from the Gang. My own crimes are limited because my power to commit a crime is limited .Same is the case with everyone around me .

From a motor mechanic to a Government officer, From a Doctor to a teacher

Most of us

Compromise on our work ethics

Want to dominate others

Want to be treated differently from the masses

Want to be above the Law

How much crimes “V” commit under such situations depends upon stimulus of Authority and Power, Stronger the stimulus and bigger would be the crime. Due to our “National Personality Disorder” “V” don’t remember the crimes which “V” commit individually while being in the situation and “V” don’t remember that “V” have hurt ourselves(being Pakistani). After committing a crime or hurting ourselves “V” search for the criminal and the savior around us without realizing that both are within us(part of our being).

How killing would stop the killings !

I never realised what a bomb blast is untill I actually heard one at Moon market Iqbal Town,I felt what immages were telling when I actually saw the burned shops. Before that images were just part of the News (worthy of attention for max few seconds and than flipping of pages of newspaper or switching to other channels). Now when I listen to News about Karachi than its easier to visualise how blood gushes out of the body,How women scream and mourn,How it feels to be desprate! How suddenly people become things which are to be burried (disposed off)before moving on with life.

Tonight when I started typing this post than the central idea was that unless C.M Sindh, experience the same sufferings, the bloodshed would not stop in Karachi,Fight between Pathan(who are moving away from north and settling in Karachi)and Urdu Speaking(who don’t want Pathans to settle down as it would affect political dominance of MQM)suits all the stake holders in Karachi!

For MQM this situation delays poulation census so that voter lists are not updated to indicate changes in demographics.

For ANP its an opportunity to counter strike and establish themselves with more seats in Karachi.

For PPP (Sind)it’s a fight between two groups who have settled and occupied a land which originally belongerd to Sindhis so it’s a source of satisfaction for them.

This situation can be immediately stopped and Law enforcing authorities can regain control Only and only If someone from the Government loses some of his loved ones!

(No Bulshit statement would come by Rehman Malik when his own son would die and Federal Govt will not seek advice for sending rescue teams when CM Sind would be kidnapped and his mutilated boddy would be found in a bag).

People in the power(and people who are indifferent about the country) must taste the sufferings! They must realise that “ what goes around ,comes around!”

BOL !!! (Time to open up!)

BOL was the most awaited MOVIE OF THE YEAR. There were many reasons for having expectations from it. Firstly it was second movie by Shoaib Mansoor after “Khuda Kay Liya” which appealed both masses and classes simultaneously. Second reason was Atif Aslam !(Though one discovers after watching the movie that this movie is not about him at all!)

There is no doubt about the level of entertainment it offers. Subject, Story, music , performances and overall presentation all gel well with each other. The movie discusses how hypocratic and shallow our value systems are and how do “V” use religion only when it suits us!!!In order to present the true picture of the society ,Director Shoiab Mansoor has freely used and censor board approved use of abusive language, names of the sects, some humor about religious beliefs and practices.
All of this could have been easier to swallow had the movie been classified for mature audiences only. It becomes a very uncomfortable situation to handle when children and elders both are around and you are listening raw and blunt local expressions related to prostitutes and family extension.

My estimate is that the budget of the movie would be around 15 million Rs. It has been released in 23 cinemas nationwide and the kind of opening it has received by the audiences, it should be able to recover its investment within one week. It would send very welcoming signals to new film makers who want to make films but are reluctant due to social and film industry conditions. This movie is also expected to be released in India by Eros International so lot of revenue can be expected for the makers of this move who made a very non commercial movie(which occasionally sounded like sponsored from NGOs and Family planning commission of Pakistan!).

After observing how Indians and Iranis have used cinema for their national interest, I feel “V” all were wrong to laugh at and ignore local cinema. Film makers like Shoaib Mansoor have actually showed us that when there is a will than there is a way so inspite of all the social unrest and slump at Lollywood, A movie(without any skin exposure) has actually pulled the crowd back to cinemas.

Pakistan beyond Pakistan!

So what is next for Pakistan?

Army failed when hostages were taken at G.H.Q

Air Force failed when Americans came and left through air without being intercepted for Osama Operation

Navy failed when planes were destroyed at navel airbase

Hope from legislature is fading and “V” never looked up to the Executive/Parliament for rescue.

People failed when religion and personal opinions got mixed up and value systems got shattered

All of this could be avoided had “V” not assumed that Army, Judiciary,Madrisas or other institutions are above criticism and audits. They are free to interfere in electoral process for keeping REAL public representatives away from Parliament.

When “V” criticize Army than its not the operational staff from an ordinary soldier(Sipahi)to a colonel but Ranks of brigadier and above which apparently are not focused on their responsibilities. Army’s involvement in Politics has surely affected its professional competency as Pakistan’s history of Wars in Dhaka and Kargil suggests.

It is now becoming a commonly known fact that Nukes and Gwader port are the reasons due to which America, Israel, Iran and India are becoming involved in Pakistan. Supposedly these countries have planned and funded to create unrest in Pakistan and as a result “V” as a nation are just not settling down economically, Socially and politically.

In spite of disappointment “V” must backup our forces so that they feel stronger while replying to the might of USA and Europe. Now a days “War of Bader” (Gazwa Bader in which 313 Muslims defeated mighty enemy with God’s help)seems to be an out of fashion and logic reference but I feel that it is just the right reference while considering to stand up against America.

Like everyone on the media ,”V” are doing nothing but discussing the magnitude of failure for the state but “V” must realize that 180 million can not migrate, If “V” actually accept American offer/threat and give up our weapons of mass destruction than “practically “V” would be redoing what general Niazi did in 1971.

Hey People! “Pakistan is our country and our recognition even if “V” migrate from the country. Our children born in America and Europe would be Britain based Pakis OR British Pakis or Paki origin Americans so lets not give up what ”V” have(our identity!)! Either “V” like it or not but “V” need to be different from our Rulers.”V” need to own the country and everything about it (either good or bad).If something needs to be changed than practically "V" should do something or just shut up!

Lets believe that there our good times ahead and yes “V” have accepted that “V” will be tested (apparently within the next 12 months). Lets be ready that survival of a nation roots from the sacrifices which come by free will, May it be in the form of loosing Life, Loss of valuables or unacknowledged acts of heroism.

My country men! Lets decide that human life is not more precious than the country(unless a life is needed for the country)and lets accept that if the Americans are coming than they loose more than “V” do! ”V" are a nation of 180 million believers and it would take more than weapons to defeat us!

Is the choice obvious?

Ever since I started observing Politics in Pakistan, I saw me and my family supporting Pakistan Muslim League. We were always against People’s Party and now the dislike has become even more intense during current Zardari regime. Till few days back I was anxiously waiting for tenure of current Government to end for Mian brother’s Muslim League. Now I am confused about possible effectiveness of PML(N).

I am confused between Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (Imran Khan) and Pakistan Muslim League(PML-N).I have started feeling that Imran Khan has shown great team management skills in whatever he has achieved so far. He comes across as a person who sets very tough targets for himself and than steadily works towards achieving them. Like most of the American Presidents ,he excelled and became a young achiever in a profession before joining Politics.According to number of sources ,he had a chance to hold P.M office through care taker government or during Musharaf regime but he refused.According to Wikileaks he is the only main stream Politician who is not under American influence.

Initially I believed that PML-N is in a better position to improve economy. Mian brothers are businessmen so they know how to develop infrastructure and boost economic growth but when I look back at their performance in the last three years than I feel disappointed. Before Mian Shehbaz Sharif took over as C.M of Punjab ,Pervez Elahi had established RESCUE 1122,Traffic Warden systems,Free education(though all of it came with a packaged deal of corruption) but during his current tenure Shehbaz Sharif has not displayed any achievement which can be considered this effective.PML-N supporters argue that atleast Shehbaz Sharif did not remove what Pervez Elahi had established but they cant claim much as far as any new developments are concerned. There is a big question mark about effectiveness of Danish public school systems when there is a huge education related infrastructure already available which needs to be rejuvenated. It is true that current Punjab government is under great pressure from terrorism and offensive politics from People Party(also according to Transparency International Punjab has lowest corruption ratings amongst all provinces) but failure to manage Sugar mills(about seven of them belong to Mian Shareef Family),Poor management of Young doctors association,Handling of PCS officers are a few examples of management which is reactive rather than proactive.

Couple of days back when I was getting irritated about tax deduction from my salary than I came to know that Imran Khan paid Rs 1.8 million tax as compared to NO Tax by Gillani and Zardari and Rs 5,000 of Mian Nazaz Sharif. I feel that no matter how good relations Mian Nawaz Sharif has with the Gulf and Asian belt but if such a billionaire is not ready to pay tax than how can he be honest about issues and concerns of Pakistani Tax payers who are paying Tax without any social security system.I feel this is time to try someone new to keep the hope alive rather than getting disappointed by the people who are in a habit of justifying failures
